Currently playing Torchlight 2. I have chosen Engineer as my first class. You can make at least 3 different builds from this character. I have chosen a melee build that uses 2-handed weapons. There's a big variety of 2-handed weapons ingame but they all fall in 3 groups:
- 2-handed hammers - have slowest attack speed but have highest max damage than any other weapon ingame and also 90% chance to interrupt an enemy attack;
- polearms - have slow and average attack speed, have decent min and max damage that allows to deal more DPS than hammers and also attack from a long range which allows you to keep safe distance;
- 2-handed axes and swords - have average and fast attack speed, have lower min and max damage than polearms or hammers but you are able to deal the most DPS.
All those types of 2-handed weapons have their own weaknesses and strength, so I'm usually uses the one that provides highest DPS. The build has no shield, thus, no block and lower defence but this is compensated by untargetable minion that heals you and a buff that absorbs all damage taken (the stronger your enemy is, the faster your shield is disrupted after first strike). Finally, engineers can afford the biggest hp pool, so I'm wearing a set that has low physical armor (defence) but provides %max health and flat health bonus and atm not gonna change it for a gear that has bigger base defence.
Gameplay - very entertaining. Basically, the game has all that stuff that will be implemented in Sigma: buffs/debuffs displayed on main screen; different types of monsters that force you to kill the strongest/most dangerous first and finish weaker enemies thereafter and some other cool things. Some bosses are quite tough with shitload of hp and require you to spend lots of time for killing them - the same we are going to have when heroic shields will be gone. What is even more cool, that you can strike them from their back with no retaliation while your pet (which is targetable) will be facing the boss and getting hit instead of you.
