The rare you use has nothing to do with it, it's a total reroll.

And yeah, lucky after then shrine bless if you're happy with it.

seems like weird shrine no longer gives max damage, but x-x damage instead. do we know what's the max x-x dmg pre-bless?

The axe rolled with ~200ed from the rare affix pool, as well as all the other attributes. The weird shrine added enough %ed to hit the 200ed cap (edit) as well as some of the added dmg

Man i sure am glad you guys are having fun with Melee Barb this ladder because they completely destroyed Poison Barb this patch somehow...

I do more damage with Basic Attack in 1 point Lion Stance than fully investing in Snake Stance and Snake Bite does litteraly no damage at all now.
Leveling with it is pretty much impossible now. On the bright side though i guess it gives me the excuse i needed to finally really put the time into a Melee Bar this Ladder and maybe even try out a Cast Barb as well.

Melee poison is quite viable, you distribute poison via WW+aoe passive, and targets you hit directly via ww, ale poisoned wioth 150% WDM snake stance * spell damage you have, which depending on gear, results in much more damage than your aoe clear poison.
Another thing is manipulating duration, by using item with poison over x seconds (best one is tu small shield with poison over 2s, which adds 2s to your snake stance).
I leveled such barb fully untwinked to 140 in beta, was having a blast. For clear you add procs such as devastation (huge aoe nova) that basically chain clears fauztinville.
Note this is quite different than snake bite, because snake bite is a short duration spell, that damage has little to do with your snake stance, it has its own damage. Melee poison barb uses snake stance and amps it with spell damage for single target. All you need to remember is not to use more than 1 item with psn over x seconds, because that will start cutting you duration, while 1 item extends it (there is division in formula depending on amount of sources of extra poisons you have, so 1 is /1 but more starts to drastically reduce duration).

As for other posts:

Rebel ofc is good, this is very powerful item, can be used obviouisly. Erawan is good because we get that 15% phys res, good defense, and 25% strength, so all is on it, and it is fairly cheap. While runes for rebel, especially enhanced rune can not drop for us for very long time.

When it comes to belt, yes wormtongue is good, leech is good. I just upgraded my axe with 20% leech and it worked fine, so there is that, and attack rating wasn't a problem. But ye wormtongue means cheap leech that you can technically access even sooner before you have gold for weapon MO or MO space.

Yeah i done some testing on the build i was running last night before bed and realized Melee Actually works with Poison FAR better than Throw for some odd reason. Throw used to be a beast of a build right out the gate fresh. Hopefully its just some sort of bug or something causing it to deal almost no damage in the old Throw setup. (Im sure it can still be forced to perform with some TUs but, before you didn't need any TUs to start it till around A2 which is definitely not the case anymore) Stampede does almost no damage in Poison Spec and Snake Bite did Zero Damage. Took like 7-10 minutes to clear Den of Evil for example and most of it i still had just go into Lion Stance and Phys Throw to actually do damage. Either way ive set my sights on running a WW Barb this Ladder since ive not got to do so. Might also finally try out a Phys Throw setup as well since ive always wanted to try that out as well.

If u read the patch notes there is a heavy nerf on lower levels if snake bite. It only becomes effective at higher skill levels, where it likely still shines for endgame bossing
