It depends on what league you're playing in- in HC, I would never play a dual-wield build like that, and life on hit is now so much better than leech that I like using claws over higher-DPS weapons. Plus, they can get to some absurd attack speed, which is the real benefit of using them with Reave, imo.

Shrug, YMMV, but with 2.0 I now try to consider "is this build HC viable?" before I even touch it. Even if I'm playing SC, I prefer to not die a million times in A4, lol.

Claws are arguably the best melee 1h weapon right now (daggers have the best dmg potential but good luck rolling/trading for a GG one in a temporary league), due to the leech changes and the insane claw circle over by the shadow. The reason that build uses a sword is because melee builds on the right side of the passive tree are a lot worse than those on the left side for hc due to several reasons:

- a lot less life you can pick up on the right and way lower base life due to strength nodes
- no good way to stack armour on the right, unless you spend points for Iron Reflexes which is inefficient, evasion is not hc melee viable.
- much harder to get endurance charges
- much lower % life regen, which is a really good defensive stat in Tempest right now due to the nature of the tempests and the widespread presence of "dont stand here" ground.
- Resolute technique (on the left) is so much better than going accuracy + crit nodes (right). This is because you have to spend a lot of points on defence, with the above in mind, and if you don't want a lvl 95 complete build critting is not the way forward.

These are all valid reasons! Thanks for the explanation. I hope that evasion gets buffed/changed a bit to make it legitimately "viable", because right now it seems like Shadow/Ranger/Duelist are the worst classes in the game just because of how bad evasion is, mostly (and the right side of the tree is kinda just meh as well in terms of defensive options).

Yeah I agree, the right side of the tree is fun for blowing stuff up but not that good when it comes to surviving (bow builds can pull it off tho). Btw how come we haven't made an MXL guild already? Many median players play poe and vice versa too, since they are basically the top2 arpgs right now. Might be a good way to get some extra advertising for our game.

Sadly, PoE isnt like Median where you have tons of skill to use at one time. Usually people:

1. Get some mana reserved stuff (aura / herald)
2. Used couple of trigger gems (cast on stunned/damage taken/critical or melee trigger; riposte / reckoning )
3. Curse / warcry / totem / minion
4. Mobility skill
5. Powerful AoE skill
6. Optional single target killer

PoE doesnt used cooldown concept much aside for some specific skill gems or vaal skill.

- Use leapslam with attack speed for mobility. Dont use totems lol.
- Use vaal reave. On use it allows you to reach 8 reave stacks (normally you can only have 4). This makes the aoe of your regular reave cover the whole screen. Now the cool part about this is that if you keep refreshing your stacks (with regular reave) you will remain at 8 even when vaal reave expires. So if you really wanna go pro, never let the 8 vaal reave stacks drop.
- Use immortal call linked with increased duration. If you're about to take a huge spike of phys damage consume your endurance charges for 2+ second phys immunity.
- get to endgame without dying and kill hard map bosses with OP modifiers in order to reach highest level maps.
