Does sbs armor grants AoE to windform? if it does it might be something nice using klaatu amulet for hive and going for on kill procs maybe.

pretty sure on attack procs don't work, not sure about on kill, apparently they only work if you're not using WW when the mob dies...

Area damage doesn't work with ww pretty sure. Same thing could be done with arreat set.

As you mention, skills like stampede won't work. This is basically because the missiles responsible for the damage are spawned before windform. Which is not the case for skills like fortress. So if you want to take the skill-combo route, its important to find skills that regularly spawn new missiles, or spawn them after a delay. SoR is mechanically a smaller barrage, that's why it works. Also, states which spawn missiles, like thundergod, would also work, but 15 seconds or whatever is just not good enough

What about hawk talons? it has 3/2 wdm, and missiles are spawned after monsters walk over the trap. Although I'm not sure how this would play out in high density areas. Could be playstyle similar to ww-sin, prebuff small field and then lure monsters to walk over it. Not sure it would work but sounds fun. OHMAN would work to some extent too.

Some oskill/procs that come to my mind with high dmg and mechanics that would work (not sure if obtainable): phalanx, broadside, hammertime (3/2). Time strike / wave wouldn't work, unless they get procced while using windform. 5/4 skills that would work: barrage, parasite, patriot sentry (not 100% sure). There's also two oskills with 5/4 wdm, danse macabre and harvest, but I don't know what they do.

Other than that, I would say maybe diff approach, proc based, dunno. Haven't played for a lot. Hope this is helpful.

eagle stance + when you get hit procs might also be another idea to think about, too bad the best proc of those is on a paladin helm :D

I read in the wiki that when struck procs don't work while in whirlwind animation. Was this changed?

seems you are right, just did one small test with punisher when you take damage, too bad then :(

only idea i would throw in then would be ambush on switch, but this would mean we dont get any comfortable playstyle at all

I was thinking about hawk talons, but I don't think it is better than sor, no pierce. In that case at least.
Thing with sor is, that if you have really dense pack of melee monsters, like fauztinville or duncraig, one sor cast, and it makes everything under it green, quite big area, nothing missed. And on top of that it is 3/2. It is pretty difficult to beat.
Maybe just a lot of sor on kill would do the trick.
It still wont be good in zones with many ranged enemies that spread. But duncarig or cows, should work quite well.

Getting timestrikes to work would be good, as it was always decent for poison spreading. But there is the issue, they need to proc while ww. And if you use for example su war axe for tornado proc, then you can't have weapon with high timestrike chance at same time. If you use weapon with timestrike, you are lacking another proc that would spread timestrikes.

Anyway there is some stuff to test.

Ambush actually seems rather promising, it had 3/2 wdm and 30 seconds wdm spam duration, :)

could somebody test that?

Tried it, interesting. But feels bit clunky, doesn't hit that many monsters, which is weird.
There is also major problem of skill spawning behind walls, and then arrows can't get out at all.
Would be fun to make good build based on this thing.
