I’m still exploring the topic of postal databases, and one thing I’m really curious about is just how detailed they can get. Some datasets I’ve seen just list postal codes and cities, while others seem to go much deeper—down to districts, GPS coordinates, and even street-level info.

What level of detail is considered “standard,” and how does it vary between countries?
Also, how are these databases typically used beyond just shipping and mailing? I’ve heard of people using postal data for market segmentation, service coverage planning, and even fraud detection. Are there any tools or platforms that make it easy to integrate postal data with other geospatial or business datasets?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s worked with this kind of data or used it in real-world projects.
Thanks so much!!
