build help . need tips on which skills i should use, what kind of weapons that is best suitable :)

Hi

i am pretty new to median XL, and i must say that i like the game so far OFC it is diablo with a pretty good and decent modification

BUT i need som help on how to make a good char. unsure about which skills i should max out, and which skills i don`t need.
My firs character will be a barbarian. Also i must mention that i am not gonna play online just yet. gonna make a good singel player char for starterst.

Any tips is welcome also, does runewords work in singelplayer ? or is it like in regular diablo 2 that you must be in a Bnet game to make them work !?

also,, how does it work ? is it like 1-5 runes in one weapon , armor etc ? or is it also gems that is needed and just not runes

There are some realm-only runewords but the majority of runewords works in singleplayer. To make a runeword the rune must be the last socketed socketable in your item. If you have an item with one socket then you just put the required rune in and it will be a runeword.
If your item has forexample 6 sockets, then you need to fill the first 5 sockets with jewels, and then put the required rune in the last socket to make the runeword.
A few runewords require multiple runes, the same system applies here, where you fill unnecessary sockets with jewels, and then put in the necessary runes in the end to make the runeword.
I'm pretty sure this is explained in the documentation which has almost all necessary info on how to play the game.

but does it matterr which gems , or jewels i use ? like in a 5 socket axe, just fill it with 4 jewels , and the right rune ?
