Imho a heatmap of players approximate location would help a lot in this decision
Well we really thought about a Vietnam server (since it's our #2 most recurring country... yes, on english forums), and as much as I love our vietnamese community, there are several reasons why vietnamese servers have not been implemented:
- The cheapest asia deal I found costed 10 times as much as US game server
- With a couple exceptions, there are no asian donors (50%+ being from the US) it kinda makes more sense to use budget in NA/EU
- With a couple exceptions, most use forbidden tools (according to some, because the rules aren't translated to vietnamese..)
- We have Singapore server which is fairly close
We don't currently have much interest in other parts of asia besides VN. We had chinese servers & big chinese userbase in our TSW community, and we ended up kicking them because they were using cheats, multilogging their asses off, and not interacting with our regular community.
@USA heatmap: tops being at NY, LA & TX - we are using forum analytics though and the decision was taken yesterday. You can expect a complete announcement today with realm patch notes and info on new game servers.
