does oskills +x to (some skill) count as x hard points in that skill? or 1 hard point and x-1 soft points?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install median, but I can't get D2SE to work properly.
I'm on windows 10.
I can play vanilla d2 just fine using the game.exe but each time I try to start median with D2SE, I get this error.

Also, I did place the Median folder in the MOD section

I see your patch_d2.mpq is 0KB. I guess either the archive didn't get extracted correctly or your download is corrupt. I suggest trying to redownload the file.

That makes sense.
I've just re-downloaded median from Modb and after unzipping it, the patch in it is also 0kb.

Is the file in the zip folder 0KB too? In that case, when you redownloaded the browser may have used a cached version of the file.
If the file inside the zip folder is the correct size (~130MB if I'm not mistaken) then the problem lies either in your zipping or maybe antivirus software.

I'm kinda guessing here since I never had that problem.

I've used another unzipping program and it now works.

I'm a returning Median XL player and I'm confused about which guides to follow.. Are the old ones as effective as before or should I stick
to the ultimative ones?

Also, I'm looking for a newb friendly character which doesn't involve alot of micro. (I used to play a PSN Sorc)
Any suggestions?

Unholy caster pallys are great (albeit a bit slow in the start).
All sorc elemental builds are still fantastic (cold+anything works wonders).
