I can only agree with flamacore. I know there are some games around that I occasionally play for half a year and then I'm done with it forever since it's no fun anymore. But Median.... It's something different. This mod is much better than any other game in the genre. You have lots of bosses. You have gear checks for those bosses. Thanks to the charms and sigs you even have a more or less steady progress. And the game really starts only at 120, which means there is a lot of endgame content and you don't have to run baal 891237587 times which is simply boring just to get to max lvl. There are some areas that have a better drop rate for certain items (for example Fauzt for PGEMS and runes, iotss for gold, dunc for SU, tran for sets and so on). That's how it's supposed to be.
Especially the skill system clearly has much more thought put into it. It's not like D3, where your skills are maxed the moment you take it, and it's not like d2 where you can make 1 skill OP in the beginning, but then it stays at that dmg value for the rest of the game once you reach skill lvl 20. Instead you have a constant progress because you can't simply overlevel that one skill and you're forced to level more skills simultaneously. But that again adds more variety and gives you the opportunity to try out some skills.
And since I'm already talking about skills... It's awesome that basically every single build is viable. You even have the opportunity to create your own builds from oskills, which is even more mindblowing. Just look at D2. Pala for example only had 2 viable builds. Smiter and hammerdin. Both were retarded since 1 is totally OP and the other is single target only. So basically only useful in ubertristram. But here? Lazydin, Tantrumdin, UHM, UHC, HC, HM, Reviver, Pala with cataclysm... You get what I'm trying to say. And every single build has its ups and downs as well.
I know most of the credit goes to Laz. But to be honest I'm glad Marco SB and Whist took over because if it weren't for those guys, this community would be long dead already.
I'm sure I will still play Median XL when I'm 90 years old, so keep me entertained with new updates until then! I won't allow you to stop modding this game!
