As a newbie Σ-player and "rare" (https://forum.median-xl.com/viewtopic.php?p=61076#p61076) owner of widescreen (16:9) display, I was confused of black borders at left and right sides.
The deeeeepest search showed that developers don't care that it looks ugly, so I did what I could to keep my esthetic feelings in safety

I found Diablo II works perfect with ReShade. Therefore, in addition to forming my own preset, I used the
Layer.fx

Is made in 4 different color schemes:
- 1. "Classic" banners [▮▮] for brave wanderers
2. "Heroic" banners [▮▮] for valiant paladins
3. Completely gray [▮▮]

► Where it is
1. Download and install ReShade.
2. To enable this overlay, (re)place the "layer.png" file* into "reshade-shaders\Textures" directory (it creates by ReShade installer in your Diablo II folder).
3. After that, edit your "DefaultPreset.ini" by changing variable
Layer_Scale
in [Layer.fx]
section; set value 1.2
