That being said, not everybody likes to talk, and not everybody wants the chat messages covering their screen when these random occurrences of real conversation occur. So I would like to suggest a recoded toggle message box hotkey, with four layers.
1) no chat messages (for the players in their own little world(no sound))
2)single message popup (maybe smaller? Just for staying involved without affecting gameplay. no sound)
3) normal chat log screen behavior (with sound)
4) normal chat box (please excuse my overindulgence in the handiness of brackets for halting the sentence to insert more information, rather than dragging on with additional text, that could be (easily) averted)
Just a drunken thought, but honestly communication has always been fun on this game, if not sometimes distracting in a busy game. Feel free to take anything you like from this post or crush it entirely. I don't care, I do however like to talk, and I won't excuse my overindulgence in that areaCheers!
Been thinking about this as well. If recoding the message system in the game cannot be done, it would be nice to have an official third-party app that binds(or something as an overlay) with the diablo executable that acts as a chatting system that consists of some layers such as a global chat where everyone can discuss, a party chat where only people in your created room can read, a trade chat for the obvious reasons and a guild chat for potential guild communities. The chat can have its own server if it is proposed as a third party overlay app or just you know, recode the chat system(which may take a fuckton work than creating an independent app itself).
The old diablo 2 blizzard chatting system is very outdated and lacks so much features which totally creates an almost alienating experience for modern users.
As much as this suggestion is not important as you might think, chatting has always been a nice break from all those repetitive grinding from arpg games.
